Tilly Anne Hull: How to Care for Human, A Cat’s Guest Op-Ed

My feline friends around cement square have informed me of their humans, from my research I have concluded my human falls under the category of ‘lazy.’ But I know my human has dreams, so it’s my responsibility to keep my human on task and get loads of attention while doing it. Here is my advice to felines far from my cement square if you have a ‘lazy human.’

I understand my humans love for sleep and naps, most of the time I join my human for cuddles and sometimes neck scritches. But it is morning and human has things to do – like feed me. So I gently tap human and meow until she awakens to tend to my needs and then her own.

I’ve learnt from my feline friends and hands on experience that humans love to look at their rectangles. My human for instance has four rectangles. After breakfast I help human with her medium rectangle. She has these things called ‘Emails’ that I love to proof read and meow at. Sometimes I edit certain parts by walking all over the keyboard.

Then it’s time for human to go on her daily walk, these walks have become common this past year and human doesn’t leave as much as she used to. I like to watch her walking away and await her return from the roof. But sometimes I like to follow her through the woods and give her a heart attack when other humans walk through with their dogs not on leads.

I notice on our walks that my human isn’t very good at hunting, so I often try to bring her back some lunch. I have tried birds, mice and other small mammals but she has never let me in yet. Maybe one day I will be able to take down a squirrel and human will like that enough to let me in.

Then it is usually time for human to talk into small rectangle for a little while. I don’t understand these one way talks, or the ring of light that surrounds small rectangle. Sometimes if I’m giving human too many note’s she puts me outside. But I have really good ideas! I meow them through the door while scratching the door so she knows that I can help. She showed me this ring of light once, I still cannot make sense of it. Human says the ring of light makes me the prettiest white.

On special days I get serenaded by my human with her string wood sound maker. These are my favourite days and I sing along.

Even when human does not know I am there I still like to check up on her for the rest of the day. Just in case she needs more proof reading, acting notes or small mammals to eat.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Our night-time routine consists of me either looking down at small rectangle or giving one of my famous pep talks. Human has had a long day. So have I. But I have succeeded in keeping my human busy and in return I get loads of cuddles. I hope human gives me even more tomorrow.
