Stella, My Cat Love Story

As Told By: Alexis Stephens

My husband and I first met our future furry love in April 2017, my sister-in-law's fiancé needed us to babysit his cats, Stella and Violet. We were living with my in-laws, who had four cats of their own, so they were definitely stressed when they were dropped off at our house. Violet found a corner and stayed hidden the whole weekend, and Stella had found her way into our room. We were warned about Stella, she was a grumpy, mean bully who wanted nothing to do with people.

She was an interesting cat, a tortoiseshell with tiny feet and a loudmouth. She growled when touched, hissed at every cat that approached her, nice or not, and refused to leave our bedroom. But we connected and understood her on a level no one else did. She let us pet her, and even carry her, all the while growling and purring.

We fed her, made sure her litter box was clean, and even made a spot on our bed for her. But soon the weekend was over, and Stella and Violet went back home. A couple of months later, my sister-in-law and her fiancé were going to get rid of the two, since they didn't get along with her cats. I jumped on the chance to get Stella again, I just knew that she belonged with us.

Fast forward to today, Stella is a five-year-old diva who constantly talks and will use her paw to boop you awake just so that you can cuddle her. She loves sleeping on shoulders and hanging out in the bathroom with us, "protecting" us from the other cats.

She will walk over you and follow you everywhere when she's hungry and will answer you and wag her tail when you talk to her, even when she's sleeping.

She is more than just a pet, she's our fur daughter. We love to talk to her, hang out and play together. We call her "Stella Bella," "Stell Bells," and "Stilettos", which becomes apparent as to why when she steps on your neck to get comfortable on your chest.

She still doesn't really like cats but will tolerate them if they're far enough away.

We are grateful to have her in our lives and hope for many more years of loving her.

We at Lucky Pineapple Films love cats. We love them so much, we have our own cat themed store, The Cattiest Cat Shop. To celebrate our love of cats, we invited people to share their own cat stories. When we moved the website over to a new shop, we didn’t want to lose them. Voila! Here the amazing cat stories are forever preserved on the Lucky Pineapple Films website.
